Women Business Owners Are Making History

Investors are passing up a significant opportunity by failing to invest in female-founded firms. Women and people of color could accomplish far more with the same amount of money. A program in Raleigh is assisting jailed women to pursue entrepreneurship. Other groups in the Midwest assist female entrepreneurs. Three big banks in New York recently announced a $40 million investment in programs that help women and people of color.

Even though the constitution promises equal chances for men and women, women are treated as inferiors in a male-dominated culture. Women are prevented from becoming successful entrepreneurs due to a lack of sufficient training, rigid social views, and limited possibilities. Women frequently aspire to start their own enterprises but lack the necessary funding. However, an increasing number of women are starting their own enterprises because they want to achieve their goals and make their dreams come true.

Many of the successful female entrepreneurs were over 50 years old and had to start their firms from the ground up. They shared their stories to inspire other ladies. Many entrepreneurs also advocated for adopting a beginner's mindset and soliciting assistance from others. Rita Moreno, Gloria Steinem, Alice Walker, and Megan Rapinoe are among the women named in the Southern Poverty Law Center's "The History of Women's Entrepreneurship."

Women's roles as entrepreneurs are expanding as they get more education. They are progressing from the kitchen to other areas of business. Women with a college education will enter traditionally male-dominated industries such as engineering and electronics. Women are reshaping society by extending their roles. They will eventually make their way into traditionally male-dominated fields such as politics and sports. And this will be the case for many decades to come. So, why bother? Begin right away.

Many women have created history already. Famous female entrepreneurs launched their businesses while still moms. Lillian Vernon, for example, started a catalog business while pregnant and filled orders from her kitchen table. Another prominent example is J.K. Rowling, who founded Home Decorating & Interiors and ultimately became a multi-millionaire. She capitalized on the chance by hosting parties to sell her items. As we can see, the number of successful female entrepreneurs throughout history is enormous.

Several government programs have been established to assist female entrepreneurs. The Trade Related Entrepreneurship Assistance and Development Scheme is one such endeavor (TREADS). This scheme is a component of the 11th Plan. The goal is to improve women's economic empowerment by boosting non-farm activities. The Gol provides subsidies to women entrepreneurs of up to 30% of the entire project cost. The remaining 70% is borrowed by lending institutions. All of these programs are aimed at assisting female entrepreneurs in achieving their objectives.

Governments must ensure that the family environment is conducive to the success of women entrepreneurs to encourage them. Elders should be aware of the potential and role of girls in society. Furthermore, husbands and parents should be encouraging during the early phases of their careers. To support female entrepreneurs, the government must also work to modify society's negative perception of them. Women can earn more money and contribute more to the economy in this way. Furthermore, the government may offer specific incentives and tax breaks to female entrepreneurs.
